The product that was installed was AVG Free Antivirus. I have since run the AVG Remover and the AV is no longer installed. The product that I am trying to install is the 64 bit AVG Antivirus.

I have been having problems with the automatic update for some time now: General Error - Update Failed. AVG Help recommended reinstalling AVG. I downloaded the 64 bit version and tried to install it, but it hangs at 41%. I tried disabling currently installed AVG to no avail. I tried uninstalling current AVG but that hangs also. I tried Safe Mode but that didn't work either.
What to try next?
