I can't ignore it. I have an Outlook add-in that communicates with the address book in Outlook. Outlook looks to Windows Action Center to see if anti virus is working to check if it can safely ignore this action. If Windows Action Center shows that anti virus is turned off, then Outlook alerts that there is a program trying to access your contacts in Outlook and asks if you want to ignore and continue. You can ignore for a max. of 10 minutes so I get bugged every 10 minutes. I need Windows Action Center to show that AVG is on and working so the Outlook prompt no longer shows.
Hi Craig,
Unfortunatelly all reccomended fixes you already tried. You can just ignore it
Thanks
Hi Craig,
In order to analyze it please provide us with diagnostic output using this tool (http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe) and please add detailed description of issue.
Thanks
I have two different PCs - one has a retail version of AVG Internet Security 2014 installed onto it, the other has AVG Antivirus Free installed. Both run Windows 8.1 64-bit with all of the latest Windows updates applied. On both PCs, AVG shows as being 'turned off' in the 'Virus protection' section of Action Center. AVG does not show in the 'Spyware' section at all, not even 'turned off'. On the PC with Internet Security, AVG also shows as being 'turned off' in the 'Firewall' section. On both PCs, when AVG is opened, it shows each section as 'Protected', indicating it's working correctly.
I have tried:-
Clearing Windows Repository manually and by using the AVG Delrep tool
Unregistering WMIUTILS.DLL, restarting, re-registering WMIUTILS.DLL
Uninstall and re-install AVG
Uninstall AVG and install alternative antivirus / internet security then uninstall alternative and re-install AVG
Alternative security software works fine and shows in Action Center as being on and working, but when AVG is re-installed, it still shows as being turned off.
The PC with AVG Antivirus is a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit with no prior security (except Windows Defender) and the PC with AVG Internet Security 2014 is a relatively fresh install (6 weeks ago) install of Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit with no prior security (except Windows Defender). Windows Firewall will not re-activate with AVG installed as it says it's controlled by AVG.
I also have a Windows 8.1 tablet (Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit) and Windows 8.1 laptop (Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit) that I have installed AVG Internet Security 2014 onto and these are working fine. The only real difference between the working and non-working machines is that the working ones are 32-bit and the non-working ones are 64-bit. Would this be the reason why? Is there a compatibility issue between AVG and 64-bit Windows 8.1? I can't see anything about this online, would appreciate some suggestions if anyone has encountered and fixed this issue.

This is the prompt I'm talking about.
