Hi,
My issue has also been solved after following the above steps. Thanks for the help!
Hello,
Recently, it appears that AVG updated itself and installed AVG Zen (which I did not have before) as well as a more up to date version the AVG protection program. I don't have a particular problem with this.
However, it appears that AVG did not remove the old version of AVG protection. I now have "AVG" and "AVG Protection" listed in my start menu, when before I only had "AVG Protection". There are also now 4 processes listed in task manager, all listed as using 10-15% CPU each. I have around 70% CPU usage when idle now (previously hovered around 30%-40%).
Clicking "AVG Protection" gives the old AVG UI I had before the update, and "AVG" gives the Zen UI design.
Under "Programs and Features" in the control panel, 3 AVG programs are listed - 2 called "AVG Protection" and 1 called "AVG". Trying to uninstall any of them through Programs and Features has the new Zen UI design, suggesting that I will be unable to remove the old version.
My primary issue is reducing the CPU usage so that AVG is not using 40%-60% of my CPU (if this can't be fixed I will have to switch to a different AV), but removing one of the versions of AVG (which I think are both running, causing the high CPU usage) is also a priority).
Thanks for any help.
After restart, run AVG Remover and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework,…).
Open AVG_Remover.exe (http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe)
User Account control - click "Yes"
Click "CONTINUE"
Select all products, and click "Remove"
Click "Restart" and restart PC
If is displayed dialog window (Open file – Security Warning) after restart, click "Run" and let AVG Remover remove traces
If is AVG Remover asking for restart PC, restart PC again
Note: Once the removal of AVG is complete, go to C Drive and delete the AVG remover folder. After which you can install AVG.
After this you can install latest version of AVG and check if that fix the issue.
Thank you(2/2)

Hi,
just wanted to inform that I had same issue, followed the instructions reported above and the issue was fixed.
Only difference was that before to run AVG_Clear I was asked to run the remover. It takes some time but it worked,
Thanks to the support
