Larry,
We do understand how difficult this is for you, we apologize. Do not worry, we will do our best to resolve this issue.
In this case, we request you to perform a complete uninstall and reinstall of AVG program. Please reboot your device http://avgclick.me/rebootintosafemode in safe mode and refer this article to uninstall http://avgclick.me/UninstallAVGAV your AVG program.
Then kindly remove the AVG folders manually as suggested below. Go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders.
1. Type “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files.
2. “%temp%” and remove all the files.
3. %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders.
4. %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files. Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files.
A couple of months back, my system (Windows 10) was infected by an unknown virus. Amm my files got wiped out and the system won't reboot. Managed to get it going after a lot of effort (can't remember what I did), and recovered some of the files via a paid recovery program.
Now the system behaves like this:
* AVG sometimes hang during scanning
* AVG sometimes does not scan at all
* Each time I restart my computer, it takes a long time, and the system seemed to get reverted to an old backup (as if the system runs a system restore). How I suspected this is because I use DataColor's color calibration tool. After running each calibration, it should remain for 15 days. But now, it tells me (at every restart) that the time has expired since the last calibration.
Anyone has any idea whether there is still a virus that has not been removed? Any solution for this?

Reboot your device in normal mode and proceed with the installation using this link: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download. Once the installation gets completed, initiate the scan and check for the results. Let us know if you face any difficulties, thank you!
