I have the same problem over here, windows 8.1 internet security 2015 - files get corrupted. What is the sollution?
Hi Trevor,
We didn't receive diagnostic output from you. Please provide us with file name. To receive most relevant logs please induce issue prior sending result.
Thanks
I have just sent the diag to avg via the send option - the comments attached are:-
The last request as per incident https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b00000000LyQ
Please can you confirm receipt.
I have processed an ftp with avg on - failures
I have processed an ftp with avg off - success
PS also if you select disable until restart but shut down the computer instead of a restart then AVG still remains inactive and has to be manually re activated.
Hi Sergio,
Did you tried disable components one by one, start with Firewall?
Thanks
Hi Trevor,
In order to analyze it please provide us with diagnostic output using this tool (http://http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe) and please add detailed description of issue.
Thanks
Woo hoo, thanks Zbynek that worked
Hello Trevor,
Do you use Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer for the FTP sites?
Do you have troubles only when accessing specific servers? Can you please try these:
- ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/
- ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/developr/
- ftp://ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/
Is there any software that might interfere with AVG? (another network tools, security products, optimizers, family safety products, lmiters etc.)

however this is the ftp link

I'm having similar issues with Windows XP, CuteFTP and AVG Internet Security 2014. I have added my hosting IP to the whitelist and have changed the ftp from passive to port and things went smoother but still have erratic error access to some remote folders (Can't read from data socket. Socket error = #10054), even when I set Firewall to allow everything. The only thing that solves my problem is to disable AVG
I upgraded my windows 8 computer to 8.1 and started to get intermittent ftp upload problems. I have done a load of research on this matter and it would appear that AVG Internet Securities interferes with the new windows 8.1 files
The updated WinInet that comes with IE 11 when using an FTP Application uses tpFileOpen()/InternetWriteFile() in PASV mode (producible at will with THAT combination, there may be others). For some unknown reason when AVG Internet Securities is active it messes around with WinInet, which will then get out of synch with server responses, always lagging ONE behind. The ftp program then tries to reconnect and then uses up all the client connections, thus stopping the ftp transfer until things time out.
If you turn of AVG for a short while, while doing ftp transfers the problem goes away. Ftp works properly with AVG turned off, misbehaves when turned back on.
Could do with a fix as others seem to be having the same problem.
AVG does work OK without the upgrade in 8 and also in windows 7 without the IE11 upgrade.
It only happens when IE11 and 8.1 is installed.
This version is the FULL paid version of AVG Internet Security. version 2014.0.4592 Link scanner 2318 Anti Spam 6.5.17 - Windows 8.1 is fine other than the FTP issue
I have posted on the forums and it would appear that it is an AVG problem intecepting and checking the FTP process and causing miss timeing faults.
Over to AVG is the word…

Well, that's dismaying. Please advise AVG version (paid AVG IS 2014, free, or what?). If this is happening with 8.1, please tell us about your experience with Windows 8.1 Update. As a "later adopter" maybe we were not over-cautious. Maybe, Windows 8.1 Update needs some more updates. Did you post the issue to Microsoft® Communitty forum, and would M$ give you any help? I mean, real help? As distinguished from the usual Virtual Help…
