Can you please help with following question:
I like AVG a lot - and I want to purchase “AVG Internetsecurity”.
The hard requirement I have is, that all the ads, which are popping up in the free version (which I totally understand) are 100% gone with the subscription.
I don’t want “tune-up advertisements” to pop etc.
What is your experience? Is the subscription version totally ad-free?
thanks a lot

This is the deal with AVG Internet Security. I have used said program for decades and it works VERY well. Unfortunately, AVG, in their CPU scans, also scans for issues they say ONLY Tune-Up is able to solve. They then offer you the opportunity to purchase to fix these issues, actually the same for virtual assistant. I fell for one of their Tune-Up ads years ago and found that Tune-up became the 1000lb gorilla in my CPU. It simply slowed my PC to a crawl. I was not impressed and cancelled my subscription.
I purchased a new WIN11 machine and installed AGV Internet Security. Again, I like the program however, AVG continues to run Tune-up or a Tune-up derivative in the background. When the dash board pops up and shows the real-time results of the scanning, at some point, it finds “issues” they say ONLY Tune-up can resolve and for $XX.XX / year, I can get Tune-up installed; the same goes for AVG Virtual Security. I also found my PC slowing again, which I did not understand until I used “Task Manager” to only discover Tune-up or some derivation of said running in the background. I disabled it all and my PC went back to operating normally. However, what I have found was, when ever I have to re-boot, AVG internet security re-installs the Tune-up and I have to remove again. It is insidious as to the locations they locate and you have to get rid of all of them.
Of course AVG offers NO direct way to contact them to ask HOW to stop this, only FAQ’s which are really no help. There is, “Ask the Community,” but like others I have used, it is difficult and time consuming to find community issues like the one I am dealing with. I just want to know how to get any type Tune-Up & it’s advertising off my PC.
So be warned!
thanks for confirming this - exactly this behavior is a NO-Go to us AVG at all at my parent’s computer.
I would even pay a little bit more, to get a 100% ad-free version!
Sorry, no money from my side, though I personally like the product!
