Hi Graham,
I certainly understand the inconvenience caused. Please right click on AVG system tray icon and toggle the On/Off button to disable AVG protection temporarily. Please also share the screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the error message if it generates any when you try to launch Outlook.
Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Since AVG Internet Security updated itself yesterday, MS Outlook will not open/load. It says there is an error in the program and willo not start. MS searches fro a solution but cannot find one. Outlook was working fine yesterday before the upgrade and this is the only system change made in the last 24 hours. How do I fix this?
How do I temproarily disable AVG to see if it is the problem?
I'm desperate, as I cannot open past e-mails, let alone receive new ones.
Using Windows 10 on a Lenovo desktop.
AVG IS is version 17.5.3022
Graham,
Unless if it was suggested to fix something, we recommend you to set the AVG Firewall network profile to Private. And I see that you were offered with free remote assistance to resolve the issue. Please get in touch with our remote technicians and they will be glad to fix the incompatibility issue.

And here is the screen shot of the error message when Outlook won't open for the non-Administrator User. Not much use to you,. I suspect.
