Sometimes, this might happen if few services are unable to initiate.
In this regard, we'd suggest you to try repairing AVG program once to check.

The behavior feature turns off.  I can manually turn it on and within a minute it turns off again.  The software either just updated or crashed in process of the install.  Using the menu both the software and virus definitions are current.
