Hello, Warren.
May I know which email client are you referring to? Is the issue resolved if you disable AVG protection?
Well… I think I brought this on myself. I changed the directory in which my email client resides. This is a simple client, which requires no installation. It runs directly from the folder (with the .exe file and a few support files). It has run flawlessly for many moons (until renaming the folder). After doing so, the email client gives error message: "Verify of SSL failed self signed certificate in certificate chain." I suppose, change the directory name back, but it was a complicated name and I forgot to write it down.
All suggestions appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you for the information.
Do you still face the issue even after updating "mailshield.der" format?
Thank you…
I exported the certificate as instructed (mailshield.det). However, it looks like nPopUk does cannot import this type file. It uses a file called ca.pem for major certificate holders. I updated this file from one of the sites recommended by nPopUk support forum. However, that did not fix the issue.
The nPopUK ssl dialogue includes a "verify" option. With this option turned off, the ssl email account works properly with AVG active. So, maybe the problem is resolved. (I don't know why it worked with "verify" on, before I changed the program folder name.)
Thanks for your help.
Warren,
I appreciate your efforts. You have to use our certificates in the email client. They can be exported from AVG >> Menu >> Settings >> Components >> Email Shield >> Customize >> SSL scanning >> Export certificate.
My error noted in previous email was in spelling of "mailshield.der" in the email only. I do not know how to make the ".der" file compatible with my email client.
The email client works with an SSL account, with AVG active… but only if the "verify ssl" option is a turned off. That is… SSL enabled, Auto select type (TLS, SSL, STARTTLS), but "verify" unchecked. It fails with "verify" checked.
The email client is nPopUk. I'm running Windows XP. If I turn off AVG protection, the email client works properly.
