Hi Alan,
thanks for your reply.
I would like to bring up the topic again as a kind reminder - would be great if this problem could be solved by AVG in the next few days.
PS: This question can be marked as solved
Have you fixed this bug? We downloaded AVG2014 on 2nd August with the same problems with the firewall, we have downgraded to the free version, as were also unable to de-activate the AVG firewall. We had previously tried to add exceptions (Iexplorer, wlm, etc) but AVG ignored thes exceptions.
Please advise the procedure to re-install AVG 2014 once the bug on the downlaod has been fixed. We don't expect to pay for it again!!
Hi M,
I would like to let you know that the data has been passed to our developers (AV-5036). Please note that this thread will be updated when further information is required from our team.
Thanks

Hello M.T.,
The firewall component was installed improperly due to a bug in our software.
To solve the issue please run AVG's repair installation (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?q=repair%20installation&urlname=How-to-repair-AVG" target="_blank) (click for details).
We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your feedback.
Dear all,
I just have bought AVG Internet Security 2014 and installed it.
The program seems to run properly, but only the firewall does not seem to work.
As it is configured as "Automatic Mode" it blocks all internet connections (even google cannot be opened).
I tried to switch it to "Interactive Mode", but there is the same problem.
Only if I turn of the firewall I have a normal working internet connection.
I have already tried to restart to computer and I have tried to reset to standard, but nothing worked.
Furthermore I have checked if there is any other firewall running, but there is no one. The only "possible" firewall is the Windows 8.1 firewall, but this cannot be modified because Windows 8.1 says the control has been taken over by AVG Internet Security 2014.
How can I use the AVG firewall properly?
Thank you in advance.
Here are some keyfacts:
OS: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
AVG version: 2014.0.4744
AVG virus database: 3986/7926
Link Scanner version: 2366
Anti-Spam version: 6.5.17
Please advise the procedure to re-install AVG 2014 once the bug on the downlaod has been fixed. We don't expect to pay for it again!!

Hello Robert,
Please follow Zbynek's reaction from 5th August.
My reaction to M.T. was specific to their case, you might be having troubles with something different.
