Thank you for your patience. Please restore your computer to the previous point before this AVG update and check if everything works fine.
Hello David,
I am sorry to hear that the issue persists. Please let me know the version of AVG program installed in your computer and let us know what exactly happens when you try to click on other options like quarantine and Ramsomware.
Despite having uninstalled AVG using the Remover and Clear tools, and spending 5 or so hours with support trying to re-install, the original problem has not been fixed. From the main menu only ‘Settings’ and ‘Help’ work, all the rest do nothing. This is not a corrupt program, because support installed it.
Also, I have not got another anti-virus program on the same computer. I found out that AVG has the Avast Engine and AVG Software analyser since the last major update (hence the Avast registry entries).
Please use an email address that can be replied to for any answers.
Many thanks.
I have just run repair from the Control Panel as suggested, and there is no difference. That is now a full circle. Repair, uninstall, re-install, repair.
Has this new version of AVG with the Avast Software engine been fully tested before release?
Thank you for the information.
Please try repair of AVG Internet Security program as mentioned in this article: http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY and check whether the issue persists.
