Problem is that I only get as far as a blue screen with a windows 10 message saying cannot startup. Then have to go to advanced functions and select to stop early startup malware protection. So I do not get to open windows and do a screenshot

My AVG Internet Security updated today and on the required restart windows 10 went into an automatic repair routine which totally failed. The only way that I can start my laptop is to disable 'early start malware protection on startup' Anyone else have this problem?

I can boot into windows after disabling malware protection on startup.
After starting I uninstalled AVG and restarted, but still have the same problem. Can you send me a copy of avgboota.sys so I can replace the one I have?

I looked in windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt and saw the following message: 'Boot critical file d:\windows\system32\drivers\avgboota.sys is corrupt.'
Sean, do you mean that you couldn't boot into windows even after disabling "malware protection on startup" ?
