AVG Internet Security Update Problem

AVG used to be good. Now it suffers from corporate greed.
Temp measure:

Set AVG to PASSIVE mode,

reboot, chkdsk will run ok.

plz solve this soon,
I install AVG on customer systems, have two clean installed windows with the same issue,
and more to complete.

I've got the same problem on my old lenovo with Win7Home and turning AVG off helps

Now I'm looking for a reason and google everywhere I can.

Hope, help will come, thanx

I have AVG Internet Security (and Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1). My current program version is 19.2.3079 (build 19.2.4186.465). Whenever I update the program to the new version, 19.3.3084, I lose the ability to do windows checkdisk at startup. It always gives me the message that a recent software update has caused an error that prevents chkdisk from running. Whenever I restore my computer to a point before I installed the AVG program update, I can do chkdisk again. Whenever I install the update again (I can't stop this as this is an automatic update will eventually happen if I'm on long enough), I again lose the ability to use chkdisk. Otherwise my computer is running fine, and I had no problems before installing the new program update. Could you please fix this update ASAP (otherwise I'll have to find a new antivirus program)! Thanks! Bob
This is the exact message I get:  Cannot open volume for direct Access. Autochk cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software package. Use system restor to bring it to a time before the software. An unspecified error occured (766f6c756d652e63 3f1).
Thank you for providing the temporarily solution.

We will make sure to fix this as early as possible. Your patience is much appreciated.
I right click on the hard drive and go to tools, click on Error Checking, and schedule a checkdisk ( https://gyazo.com/e7ef600139a8b5165a117885f1af19a3 ) . The checkdisk can only be performed on boot up, so I can't take a screenshot when this is happening. They give an error message but I never have the time to write it down. When I remove the update, things go back to working.

Hello Anon,

We regret for the inconvenience caused.

How do you access the Windows checkdisk?

Can you provide us the screenshot of the checkdisk?

May be it will help, but another version is - Microsoft KB2823324 update is the cause (An unspecified error occured (766f6c756d652e63 3f1))

Thank you for reporting it, Damian.
We will inform our developers about this and the fix will be available in the next update. Your patience is much appreciated.

Hello, any update on my issue?
I'm having exactly the same problem with both AVG and Avast.  If I uninstall the antivirus then autocheck works, and if I install the antivirus it doesn't work.  The problem started with the latest revision.

Hi again, R Anon.
The case has been forwarded to our Tier 3 team. We will get  back to you once we received a response from them, your patience is much appreciated.

I go to properties on the hard drive and then tools and then error checking and schedule a check disk (that only happens on boot up). A chkdisk screen starts, then the countdown of ten seconds to give me an option to cancel the check. Then, after this,  I get a message saying that some recent software installation is preventing checkdisk from starting and that I should do a system restore. I was finally able to get the error code the showed on the screen: 766f6c756d652e63 3f1    After this screen I log on normally and everything else seems okay. Interestingly, when I use the command prompt (after fully booting up to Windows), and verify my files using the "sfc /scannow" command, it says there are no file violations and everything is fine. The update only seems to be interferring with my ability to do a boot up chkdisk (which is the only way I can do it for my internal main hard drive). I'm afraid that I may need to do this someday, but won't be able to because of the AVG. Please help!

Hello Damian,
We are aware of this issue and our developers are working on a fix.
This issue has been caused by new logging in IDP driver and it will be fixed in the upcoming update of AVG 19.4.
