AVG Internet Security update

Please try the below instructions to fix this error.
1.Go to Task manager -> Processes
2.Right click and End all the tasks of Windows Installer
3.Now, try to update  AVG again.

Why, every time I try to update; after being told my installation 'Update Required',  I get a mesage that another update is running, but nothing is running!! This has been going on for 3 weeks!
