Please explain in detail if you experience any interruptions between the two application, so we can check and help you further.

Using AVG internet security with a non AVG VPN service. any tips to make these two run smoothly? thinking that the VPN is probably affected by AVG internet security service…

AVG Internet Security will not conflict and there is no option to allow/block VPN features.
