i went through the procedures outlined above as best I could. The remover tool did not register internet security but the problem remains, I include a screen shot of the error message

I apologize for the inconvenience. I would request you to follow the steps in this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product to reinstall AVG Internet Security by running AVG Remover and AVG Clear tool.
Note: Select the AVG Internet Security product alone to uninstall, then click Remove.
After restarting your computer, please refer this article to reinstall AVG Internet Security http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Internet-Security-or-Premium-Security

Hi
I used the new product security code supplied after my renewal fee was paid. I got an error code 0xe001f921. I tried uninstalling AVG and then reinstalling from the website. The error code reappeared preventing installation.
Alos, why can't I email tech support at AVG?
