Meanwhile, performing a clean installation using AVG Clear is the workaround provided by them. 
To perform a clean installation, please follow the steps in below articles:
Uninstall AVG using AVG Clear
Install, activate AVG Internet Security

I just installed AVG Internet Security but can't turn on password protection. How do I do check for what is wrong and fix this
