Hello Tim,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
As per our record you have purchased the license for AVG Internet Security and the subscription for AVG Performance Multidevice.
This Multidevice program doesn't have a license number. It's installation is only by entering the AVG My account credentials.
So in your case you have this Performance Multidevice installed first and you tried to install the AVG Internet Security, this is the reason you have got the message as "you already have another AVG product on your computer that is incompatible with the one you are trying to install".
To install your AVG Internet Security you have to first remove this Performance Multidevice and then install the AVG Internet Security program first and then go for AVG Performance installation.
Many thanks Balasubramanian, for your response and suggested solutions.
However, I have some further questions to follow up.
I understand that my present license expires on 19th September.
Product: AVG Internet Security
License number: IMNEO-WF6Z6-P9ZAS-AOHSL-QEL79-3F2VJ
Status: Active
Number of computers: 1
License validity: 24
License expiration date: 2016-09-19
So should I wait until my present license actually expires before proceeding?
I cannot understand as to why I need to remove one license to install a replacement as to my understand one is an extension of the other and provides the same functionality.
I presently have an AVG licence for AVG Internet security which is about to expire.
I receive emails from AVG to this effect.
Today I purchased a renewal licence from AVG.
However, when I attempted to download I received the following message -
AVG Internet Security cannot be installed…you already have another AVG product on your computer that is incompatible with the one you are trying to install.
I purchased the new licence during a live chat with an AVG.agent.
The agent checked my current licences and advised me of my expiring licence.
So where from here

Hello Tim,
We do understand your concern. As we have extended and renewed the license, it have created the new license number, which is active till 9/19/2018. The old license number you have providexd is no longer useful as it is upgraded to new license. You can reactivate the new license number on to your computer to extend the subscription of AVG.
Thank you.
