My experience? Got a new pc recently and checked procedure to transfer my AVG Internet security product (1 license for 1pc - all I need). Uninstalled from old pc and went through transfer procedure - obtained license retrieval via email and copied & pasted this into AVG install set up - all as per AVG website. All seemed ok. However, an exclamation mark on the AVG log on taskbar so when opened dashboard, got the message "You are not protected - Computer protection is turned off". Strangely, although my license expires next year, the subscriptions button on menu shows license already expired! Googled this and this appears to be a common problem. Uninstalled (after trying the repair option which didn`t make any difference), re-installed (three times) but same issue. Phoned support and a (very nice) person accessed my pc remotely before informing me of my PAY TO FIX options after stating that he could see the issues. Funnily, the cost for these PAY TO FIX options is substantially more than my 2 year license and obviously more than a new product from rival companies. Bottom line - the cynic in me thinks that this is an underhand method to maximise revenue so I am uninstalling and saying goodbye to AVG forever. Sad, as I have been a loyal customer for 11 years (as have various family members who I will inform) but hopefully the Nortons, McAfees and Bitedefenders of this world will not treat loyal customers in the same way.
