AVG is blocking Outlook from connecting to GMail

Outlook send/receive error message

Hi David,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Forum. I see you are facing issues with AVG blocking Outlook from connecting to GMail. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Could you please share us the screenshot of the page (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Create-screenshot) which shows the error message?
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on Answer & then click on the Image [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions. Thanks in advance.

I have recently started getting error message from Outlook trying to connect to GMail on my Win11 PC.
"Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified…"

This is a recent error, Outlook has been working fine for many years.
I have followed numerous online posts on this topic and can confirm my Outlook settings are all correct, I am using a Gmail/Google App password and 2 step verification.
I have made registry mods to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.3\Client
I can now confirm disabling AVG will resolve the problem and vice versa
I have seen historic posts about Adding AVG to the exception list in AVG does not resolve this issue and posts about disabling SSL filtering.
Can you advise what I should change in AVG to resolve this please ?

Not sure if it's relevant, but I was searching online for a solution and saw a similar issue using Exchange server, same error message and the user said they felt the issue had something to do with AVG SSL Filtering

Hello Jessie,
We appreciate your information. We'd like to clarify this for you. If you have any concerns regarding AVG, please write back to us in a separate private message so that we can check and assist you accordingly. Thank you in advance!

FYI I raised an AVG support call case 18235225 and the support person reinstalled Internet security, it didn't resolve the problem and they have escalated it further up.

I just finished a support call and remote assistance approx 10 mins ago

My problem was resolved by senior AVG technical support

I changed the IPv4 DNS & preferred DNS to use Google Public DNS, did an ipconfig /flushdns and lastly deselected IPv6 and everything is running perfectly.

Changing DNS instructions are here: https://support.avg.com/supportarticleview?l=en&supporttype=home&urlname=troubleshoot-avg-dns

I run multiple VPN's and they were uneffected by the change and my GMail email sends and receives noticably faster using Google Public DNS.

Thank you AVG for the fast and effective response.
