Hello Dinesh.
Disabling the firewall only did not fix the problem.
Completely removing (with AVG clear) and then reinstalling the AVG software (offline installer) appears to have fixed it, although further testing is required to be certain.

Hi Colin,
This isn't the usual behavior of AVG program.
Please disable AVG firewall alone & check if it allows you to transfer data without any issues.
If issue persists, we may need to perform a clean installation of AVG using AVG Clear tool.
The latest update to AVG IS 20.5.3130 (build 20.5.5410.584) has introduced a bug that can cause a system crash in the TCPIP stack.
When copying a lot of data (many files, or a single very large file, 20GB plus appears to be the approximate threshold) to or from my NAS file server over gigabit ethernet, the transfer rate starts to degrade after several minutes, then causes a system hang (eg: mouse freezes), then eventually crashes in the TCPIP stack with a blue screen. If I observe the problem early enough, pulling the network cable prevents the crash and the system un-freezes, but requires a reboot before reconnecting to the file server shares.
Stopping the AVG software reverts to normal behaviour. Enabling the AVG software causes the problem.
The problem occurs consistently on two different machines. The workaround is to disable AVG software before copying large amounts of data.
Colin.
