AVG is Causing some websites not to load!

My AVG Free anti-virus program has been a great tool for years. I really appreciate it as it is much better than other such programs I have tried. About 7 days ago something changed. My Firefox browser was consistently not loading or partially loading certain sites that I use often. Many other sites partially loaded and hung, sometimes never completing after many minutes. Other sites came up quickly and normally. I tried everything. Then my ISP had me shut off AVG, Instantly the problem went away!
What could be causing this? I don't like being on the net without my anti-virus turned on.
I am technically proficent but can't figure this one out. Something changed about July 14th.
Thanks for any ideas.

Sounds exactly like my recent problems.  I think it is incompatibility with Vista (both 32 and 64bit versions) - everything works well without AVG. Same problems with latest Avast product but an old avast version works (although protection is inadequate.)  Are you on Vista too?

I am sorry to hear that. I would request you to disable the Online shield component (AVG>Menu>Settings>Component) and check if are able to access websites without any issue.

If the issue fixes after disabling the Online Shield, please uninstall and reinstall that component alone.

Deane, thanks for trying. You will have a drop down next to the Online shield component. You can uninstall and reinstall it from there. Also, please follow the email steps to collect the diagnostic information from your PC to escalate the case.

I am sorry to know that you are facing the same issue.
Please be informed that AVG products are compatible with Windows Vista.
Did you reinstall Online Shield component as suggested by Bhuvaneswari previously?

OK, shutting off Online shield only FIXED the problem. Please provide instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall that component only. I don't see a way to do this. Thanks.
