Open AVG user interface>click tools (for AVG 2012)/ Options (for AVG 2013/2014)>advanced settings>on the left pane select antivirus (for AVG 2012) or Computer Protection and then expanding it select Antivirus (for AVG 2013/2014)>on the right pane mark all the options>click apply and ok.
Once again open AVG user Interface>tools (for AVG 2012)/ options (for AVG 2013/2014)>advanced settings>on the left pane select "scan" and expand it>select "whole computer scan">on the right pane under scan settings make sure that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th ,7th and 8th options are marked. If not then mark them. Click apply, and then OK. Now run a whole computer scan. If any virus is found, it will be moved to virus vault automatically.
This will make AVG more sensitive to threats.
If this does not solve the problem then I would suggest you to check your PC with AVG Rescue CD, which is available free at http://www.avg.com/avg-rescue-cd. This Rescue CD can scan and remove any type of threats which is not possible by normal methods. AVG Rescue CD instructions at http://www.avg.com/226386. Please read the instructions carefully before you use AVG Rescue CD. Also update the rescue CD database before scanning. AVG is saying a program is a threat & when AVG is told to remove the program it comes back and says it can't locate the program. I close the AVG warning screen and then the warning screen comes back again in about 10 minutes. How do I get AVG to stop doing this? The program and directory in the warning are not on the computer. I am running Windows 7 64 bit Home.
