AVG is using 100% of disk

I sent the following question in a previous question.
Almost all of the time that I wake up my PC (not a reboot) everything locks up for several minutes. I run Task Manager that see that 100% of disk space is being using by AVG products.  I usually see two AVG Antivirus process running along with AVG Antivirus engine server, AVG remediation exe, AVG Software Analyzer, AVG TuneUp Service, and AVG TuneUP UI.  How can this be fixed?
I received the following reply to the question from Rakshith.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
AVG is not suppose to occupy all the disk space.
I request you to check if you have any other security application installed in your system.
Having two security application will conflict with each other.

I had checked for other security before sending the question and did not find anything.
I found another AVG community support question from May 2017 with the identical problem.  The response from Akash to that question was the following.
Use the removal tools AVG Clear and AVG Remover.  Then download and re-install AVG Antivirus.
Is this process still a viable solution?
