AVG keeps turning off

For the third time the past couple of weeks, I got a (Windows?) pop-up stating that both AVG protection and the Firewall are off.  I open AVG and find the message that the "update has failed".  Why does this keep happening, and how can I fix it?

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
We request you to open the interface of AVG Internet Security and click on Options at the top and select "Advanced settings"
To the left of Advanced settings window please click on + symbol of "Update" and in the drop down please click on "Manage"
To the right please click on "Delete Temporary update files" and confirm it by clicking Yes or Ok.
Once it is done at the bottom click on Apply and then Ok.
Now, please update the AVG program and check whether it is getting successful.
