AVG lists my home network as public

…because it is listed as public, i am unable to share files to that device on my home/private network.  I did a clean install of windows 10 with all relevant updates, updated drivers of all devices to the newest available, networked the device before installing AVG Ultimate on the laptop.  All sharing worked flawlessly.

Installed AVG and now that laptop does not find the shared files on the network.  I have pinged the laptop from the host and pinged the host pc from the laptop successfully.  I have used the network feature on the "This PC" icon to get to the \desktop-_____ and also used the ip address of the host in this manner.  In both cases it was successful and shared folders were able to be seen and used by the laptop, but with a reboot of the laptop, the error message: this device is no longer available, check your permissions, etc.  The typical error for many suffering this same problem.

In the avg settings and firewall settings - despite the network being "trusted" and sharing of printer and files enabled, no network shares can be found or utilized.  Even when I "completely" uninstall avg ultimate from the laptop, the original windows settings must have been altered as I do not have the sharing with just windows that I had prior to installing avg.

I know that this is an on-going issue with avg and against my better judgement a few years ago when I was having a similar issue between devices, I renewed my subscription.  That is in much doubt now as the frustration level in dealing with this same issue again is making me look at other alternatives.

The laptop is sharing perfectly well without avg ultimate, but the minute that is installed sharing is no longer possible.  Both the printer and shared files are not seen and when using ip addresses to the host either permissions are questioned or paths not found.  It is outrageous that this issue still exists.  And the evidence that it still is an issue is evident with a simple google search of "avg network settings no longer allowing sharing" or something similar.  Pages and pages of people like me frustrated with the product and the same useless answers from so-called avg experts to make sure your network is "trusted" and that "printer and file sharing is enabled in the settings."

For goodness sake.  So I have been thru all of it.  My home network is listed as trusted.  Sharing is enabled.  I have turned on network discovery.  And despite all of these, my home/private network is still listed as public in the network inspector.
