AVG Locks up Windows Live Mail during 'Scanning emails'

We apologize to hear about the inconvenience caused to you. Could you please let us know whether Personal email scanner component is installed or not in your AVG program? You can check it by clicking on Support and Program. There you can see all the components installed in your AVG.

When I have Windows Live Mail open and AVG running in the background and I'm composing an email, every now and then, an AVG pop-up window appears stating "checking email". This locks up the process of typing the email until the window disappears, which I find very annoying…
Why does AVG do this and is there a way to stop this from happening?
