Hi, Kath.
I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. Please try to repair AVG Internet Security once as suggested in this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG to resolve the error message on the interface. Regarding AVG Secure VPN, you can open AVG Zen interface by clicking on small 'Home' icon at the top left corner of AVG Internet Security interface.
Double-click the AVG icon on your desktop to open AVG management console (formerly known as AVG Zen).
Click the Secure VPN tile to install the program.
Click Try it free to start 30-day trial. If you already bought a subscription for AVG Secure VPN and you are logged to your AVG MyAccount in AVG management console, your license is detected at this point.
Click Yes to confirm installation. Restart your PC, if asked.
Click the OFF slider so that it changes to ON. Secure VPN drivers are installed.
Today, on advise, I uninstalled AVG Internet Security because of a problem where an Updates are ready message remained even after all current updates had been installed. I reinstalled AVG and everything is as should be except (1) In red letters it says You are Not Protected. Computer Protection is turned off. below that all 5 options say Protected! ,I believe this message is to persuade you buy PC Tune UP option.
(2) the VPN option, which is paid for and shows up as such in my account is not there. The Management Console is not there just the normal home screen. I have tried to download the Avg Zen app from AVG but cannot find it, only on third party sites and I am not sure if that is the solution as all the detail I am reading says the VPN console is included in the main AVG download. I am going round in circles getting back the VPN facility I have paid for. Kath Reader
