AVG missing systray icon "fix"

Hello Rick,

I've had a lot of experience the last 2 days with the "missing tray icon" from version 7859—a reinstall after using the "removal tool" does not fix the issue.  It seems that this is an issue regardless of AVG version–free, zen, security suite-paid or free–same issue–7858 was OK  7859 is not.  I have resolved this issue on Win 10 Pro, and Win7 enterprise, and Win 8 Enterprise using the "repair" option from "programs and features" or "add remove programs–depending on the OS.  Obviously there is a difference between using the "repair" option as opposed to a remove and re-install.  Hopefully the developers can solve the issue with the next upgraded version.

Worked perfectly for me on Win 7 Pro SP1. Far quicker and easier than anything suggested by AVG - who caused the problem. No need to uninstall and reinstall. After applying your fix, I note that the icon right click functionality has changed totally. Instead of all the useful choices it had, it now only has 'open' to open the full user interface and 'scan' which starts a whle computer scan without the valuable more granular options such as 'scan specific folders' (obviously still available by opening the full interface). AVG want shooting - and if they don't soon stop inundating me with marketing messages I'm leaving them after many years.
