AVG not loading and when I click Desktop Icon, nothing happens

HI, Over the last two days I have noticed that AVG does not load at start up and I only  have the desktop icon active. if I click to open, nothing happens. I have renewed my subscription back in May and all has been OK until last week? Any ideas
