Thank you for the screenshot.
Please run AVG repair avgclick.me/RepairAVG from your control panel and check if that fix the issue.
Thankyou for this, which I did and it stil did not solve the problem… I ended up speaking to your tech
Thankyou for this. I tried your suggestions, but no avail, so I ended up talking to your support people for about 2 hours, having a remote session. However, this was unsuccessful also. The up side is that they were able to confirm that my AVG is working in the back ground and I am protected as it tells me. It would seem that my hard drive is only 81% healthy and its gradual degeneration might be causing the problem. I have decided to live with what we have and as the laptop computer is some 7 years old now and probably replace it in due course.
Regards,
Graham
Thank you for your reply. I have AVG Internet Security - Order No xxxxxxxxxxx. When I try to open AVG, I just get this. However, the programme is obviously working in the back ground as it tells me I am protected when I just highlight the short cut on the task bar. It aso has just come up with a privacy warning.
Regards
Graham
avg shows i am protected, but the programme does not open
Hello Graham,
I really appreciate your effort in trying to resolve this issue.
The issues might be because of old/previous AVG traces.
In this case, I request you to remove AVG completely along with any previous traces using the AVG clear tool/AVG Remover tool and then do a fresh installation of AVG. This will ensure that none of the previous traces of AVG are left on your computer and you have an updated version.
Please follow the instruction (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product) to run AVG Remover tool and AVG Clear tool.
After the computer reboots, you can follow the instruction to download/install/activate AVG Internet Security. You have to use license option to activate it.
Regards,
Alok.
