AVG not scanning

I have installed AVG 2015 a few months ago but it does not scan my computer. The last scan was in March. I have it set for regular daily scans but it is not happening. It will also not scan when I ask for it at any time. I am worried that my laptop is not as protected as it should be as there seems to be a constant influx of "Ads by PriceMinus" every time I click the mouse. Words also change to a highlight and underline with a little bix - not sure what this means but is also PriceMinus (you might see this in the next sentence) Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried to uninstall so as to install again but got a message to say that the uninstall failed and was not able to…
