AVG or AVGVPN is blocking internet ever since Internet service went down then restarted

It all started when my verizon fios crashed.  The wifi router was sending signal but it wasn't getting outside the house.  Verizon tech came and reset the box on the outside of the house.

The only way I can get online is to disable my firewall and turn off my VPN.

I saw a thread, that told me to delete an AVG driver at network connections then restart my computer twice.  I did that (although I didn't specifically see AVG drive in properties, it said AVG something else… and the only "properties" were in the VPN internet connection"

I'm on Windows 7 ( I know, I know… just let me live)

So. here's what happens.

With firewall turned on and VPN turned on. NO INTERNET. none at all

With Firewall turned off, but VPN on. I have internet, but every few seconds I get bounced.  and my signal goes from 4 bars regular, to 4 bars with an exclamation point no internet.

With firewall turned off. and VPN turned off. everything seems ok.

How can I fix this.  I use Google and/or Firefox.
