Hello Pedro,
I am sorry to hear that you are unable to update AVG Free Antivirus in your PC. Please repair AVG Free Antivirus as mentioned in this article ( http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY ). Then update AVG by going to AVG->Antivirus->Menu->Settings->Update.
If the issue persists, please share the screenshot of AVG user interface to assist you further.

My AVG is out of date. The installed version is 17.3.3011 and it says there's an updated version 17.5.2302. But when I click on "Update" button it then says "You're already updated" and it isn't true.
What to do?
