If I have Office 2007 w/Outlook installed, when installing the AVG free version, does it configure itself for SSL email? It says e-mal is protected, but then I found the page here about installing pop3 servers under the ADVANCED setting in the menu. I don't understand the 127.0.0.1 server setting, where it goes in Outlook 2007, and the ports mentioned (5200, 5300, etc and how to set up multiple emails), as well as the 110/25 ports (my isp uses different ports!)
Can someone explain/help with these? And if these need to get set up manually, why does the interface say my emails are protected?

We certainly understand your concern.
By default the Email Scanner will scan the emails for your PC but if you wish to scan for a particular domain you have to setup the email scanner manually.
To setup the email scanner please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1gtWgmT .
The instructions is for the Gmail account but in the place of Gmail you can enter your email address and domain.
The ports should be as mentioned in this article and you don't have change the ports.
In case if the emails aren't scanned after setting up as per the instructions, please do let us know.
