Hello Patrick,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with AVG Password Protection installation. I request you to open AVG PC TuneUp/AVG Secure VPN, click on Go to Zen button from the left corner > It will open AVG main user interface, click on "email address" and select "Leave this network" > Click on "Connect" and select "Log into existing account" for entering AVG my account credentials. > Wait for 2-3 minutes to check whether it activates AVG Password Protection. Keep us informed about the status.

I recently purchased the password protection but can't seem to install it. The only instructions given for activation were to click on the password protection tab in the AVG launcher and sign in. I'm already signed in, and when I click on the tab it asks me to purchase the protection. If i click on purchase it just takes me to the website to buy it all over again. If I log into my account at avg.com it says I've purchased it, so I'm just wondering why I can't activate it.
