AVG PC Tune-Up 2014 won't work. License is invalid

I purchased AVG PC Tune Up in store instead of online & tried to install it. It will install but will not work. Keep getting "License is invalid". The nuber being used is the one in the box! Any suggestions? Store will NOT accept returns. Am I stuck with a product that won't work?
