Hi Karl, if system restore also did not solve the issue then I would suggest you to use file recovery software like Recuva which available for free. You can download Recuva from https://www.piriform.com/recuva/download/standard. While using Recuva search for only documents files to recover. Read all FAQs at https://www.piriform.com/docs/recuva/using-recuva. Hope this helps you. Thanks.

I used recuva but only the files that avg deleted from recycle bin came back. which is funny cos they are the files I dont need. I need the files that were deleted from my system
This just happened to me, how can I get my files back? I still have AVG performance installed and it shows 9GB was "cleaned" more like deleted unexpectedly as System Cashe & Logs. Used rescue center and nothing came back, also used Recuva and nothing was in my downloads folder, please help
Hello Ryan,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Did you follow the instructions provided by "Rajarajan" ?
Hi there,
Sorry if this is complicated but I'm a Luddite and am trying to give as much info as possible.
I've just done what my AVG free edition told me and downloaded AVG PC Tuneup 2015 on my Windows 7 computer. Once installed, I ran the check and fix and it all appeared to work seamlessly.....I did the required restart, and on my return all my folders and files on my desktop were missing (all of them except one measly empty folder). I restarted Tuneup, hit the 'undo changes' button in the rescue centre (main control panel), and 'restored' all the listed changes made, but my files are still missing.
In the top menu of Tuneup there is a 'fix problems' tab which when clicked offers a 'restore deleted files' function. When I clicked this I can see the program scrolling through the missing files, but the program does not register them as files that require 'finding'. I did notice that as this search scrolls through, the files are listed under my sister's username (this used to be her computer). However, Windows Explorer does not register them when I use it to conduct a search, even in my sister's user folder. I have recently renamed myself as Karl, so I suspect that Tuneup has relabeled or shortcutted the contents of my desktop (perhaps because still labelled for my sister's username?), so I cannot access them. Please assist ASAP - tuneup tells me it's only free for a day....I'll be damned if I'm going to purchase it now just to rectify an error that it caused.
If this helps, when I log in to this computer, it has me down as Karl. However, once I am logged in, I appear to be registered as 'Administrator' in C:/Users, alongside to my sister's user folder and 'Public'. I thought I had simply renamed the administrator function, but evidently not. Computers confuse me no end.)
Cheers, Karl.
Thanks for the advice. However, when I performed the system restore, only a few empty folders were recovered. All the documents are still missing. Any other ideas?
