To All, who has strange issue with Daniel K. support pack or with PAX Drivers.
It is a strange issue that I detected yesterday. Because I am very satisfied with AVG PC TuneUP, I decided to share this here, so maybe it will be corrected by the develeopers.
I have a Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic card, and I usually use PAX Drivers or Daniel K's driver pack on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit system.
Yesterday I uninstalled the old drivers, and tried to install the new ones. (Does not matter which one, because both of them showed the same symptoms:
the setup.exe requested the UAC prompt. I clicked yes, but nothing happened. Sometimes windows showed a windows, that it can not be decided if the installation was successful. (There were two options: 1. Reinstall using recommended settings (did not solved the problem), 2. The installation was successful.(Was not.))
After cleaning up the creative drivers, I decided to give another try to those installers, and rebooted in safe mode with networking. Than, after I clicked the setup.exe, the UAC prompt popped, and windows told me that an AVG PC TuneUp service is necessary to run this file.
My solution was to uninstall the AVG PC TuneUp and AVG ZEN. After that the setup. exe was running fine in normal mode, and my sound-card is working again.
I hope the team will solve this problem, so I do not have to uninstall their product again.
