AVG Performance popup will not close

Free AVG
Zen build 1.113.2.50020
AVG version 16.131.7924

This has not happened again, but I had set
"maximum frequency of in app offers" to 3 days
so it may happen December 16
I will let you know.

Hello Danny,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Actually it is not possible to close the popup service from AVG.
You couldn't close any of the service of AVG running on Task manager because it is highly necessary to protect your PC from threats.
Could you please let us know whether you are using the free, trial or paid version of AVG so that we can assist you better?

I see there are a lot of problems with AVG popup windows NOT being able to be closed; AVG says they are "sorry this happens" but will NOT do something very simple to resolve this. Provide an X in the upper right corner that closes EVERY single popup window (and I mean EVERY ONE). That AVG has not resolved this after several years of complains indicates thart they REALLY DO "NOT" CARE. They KNOW how to fix the issue and WILL NOT DO SO.

I am getting ready to dump AVG and find a user friendly anti-virus. AVG is NOT that in any sense of the word. I am sure they are irritating many people which ultimately costs them business with bad reviews. Oh well!

Hello Larry,
We are sorry to know that you are unable to close the AVG pop-up from your computer. You can close the same from the "Task Manager".
Press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del] to bring up the Windows Security screen, which provides users with five options including Windows Task Manager. Just click Start Task Manager. From there close the AVG process from your computer.
Thank you

I have had the same problem over the last 2 days. What is the process name in task manager since if I try closing anything AVG I am not allowed to.

The popup problem has not happened again.

AVG user for many years. Computer professional.

Just got back to my XP PC and found a large pop-up in the bottom right asking to "Fix your PCs performance. For Free" - This pop-up - - - - - -will not move, will not close, and I had to reboot to get rid of it.

I've spent years tuning this XP PC for astronomy research and I do not want AVG touching it.

Having to reboot to get rid of the pop-up is unacceptable.

Hi Wayne,

This isn't the experience we want you to have. We've replied to your original post. Please check & revert to us via it to keep the conversation in a single thread.
Thank you for your understanding in advance!

I figured how to close that annoying pop up. using "Process Explorer" from system internals. once you get to popup, open Process Explorer and right under help menu you will see "traget, cross hair" ,  using left mouse button click and drag to the popup and you will notice a white box around the popup, then relase the left mouse click. doing so will point out which process the popup is using. from that point the ONLY option you can do to close that pop up is right click > window > close!

You CAN'T kill the process or terminate it, the ONLY way is to right click > window> close. and that will close that annoying popup.

I hope this help you guys and feel free to ask me if any step is not clear and i will try my best to explain it.

Thank you ,
Romani
