AVG premium protection disabled

For months now I receive daily notices from AVG (including a notice on your site) and Windows 10, that "Protection is Disabled.  Fix now".  When I click "Fix now" it tells me that my protection is up-to-date.  During this vicious circle my internet connection is disabled, necessitating a Restart.  Really a drag.
I have updated, uninstalled and re-installed, run a deep scan…all to no avail.
