AVG prevents sending GMail

Hello Roelof,
I understand the inconvenience caused, let's work together to fix this issue. The issue might be because of AVG Firewall network profile. I request you to change AVG Firewall network profile to private (open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > components > firewall > customize > network profile > change all the network public to private), please go to Firewall customize settings again > scroll down > click on system rules > enable all the system rules if it's not configured, please click OK and check if you can send emails from Gmail with enabled AVG Internet Security (Fake-Website-protection component).
Best regards,
Alok.

Hello Alok,
Thanks for quick reaction. I did all you suggested, but unfortunately it did not help to solve the problem: onlly after deactivating "Fake-Webside-Schutz" sending Gmail was possible again.
PS: I Posted my question today (March 21) again, because I could not find this earlier post anymore. Can you pleas delete it? Thanks.
Best regards,
Roelof

Hello Karthikeyan,
Before changing the ports I activated "Fake Webside Protection" again, rebooted and tested whether I could send gmail E-Mails from Outlook, expecting to get the usual error message that the SMTP server cannot be connected. But to my surprise the GMail E-Mail was sent immediately!
So now I have the full functionality of AVG Internet Security and no problem anymore.
Anyway thanks for your help!
Best regards, Roelof

I am sorry to hear that the issue persists.

Changed the server ports in AVG: Menu / Settings / Troubleshooting / Redirect Settings and changed the ports: IMAP port 5100 and SMTP port 5200.

Check if this fix the issue.

Hello Alok,
I very much appreciate your help and I can see that the AVG-Team is eager to solve my issue, but unfortunately also your suggestion in your mail of March 22 (open AVG protection > Menu > settings > components >  Fake-Webside-Protection > uninstall > reinstall (install it again) > reboot your computer) did not solve the problem. When trying to send a GMail via Outlook, I got the below error message:

Fehler (0x800CCC67) beim Ausführen der Aufgabe "roelof.barents@gmail.com - Nachrichten werden gesendet": " Antwort des Servers: 421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 2a00:1450:400c:c09::6c (2a00:1450:400c:c09::6c:587), connect error 10060"

When sending a GMail Email via the GMail website it works ok. So it seems that the interaction between Outlook (2007) and AVG is creating a problem.
I now switched of the component "Fake-Web Side Protection" and try to be careful! Or do you still see an option that might help?
Best regards, Roelof

Some weeks now I cannot send Gmail. I found that deactivating AVG allows sending Gmail but that is not a good idea: I then tried to deactivate one by one the eight components of my AVG Internet Security version 18.2.3046. I found that by deactivating the component "Fake-Website-Protection" only this allowed me again to send Gmails.
Is there a better way for me to send Gmail without deactivating this component  of AVG?

Roelof, I really appreciate your effort in resolving this issue so far. Yes, the issue might be resolved by reinstalling "Fake-Webside-Protection" components. We have not received other customer reporting the same issue.
I request you to open AVG protection > Menu > settings > components >  Fake-Webside-Protection > uninstall > reinstall (install it again) > reboot your computer once and check with the situation.
Best regards,
Alok.

Ranjani,
did as you suggested (and checked that Add-on AVG in Outlook was unchecked indeed), but result was that I could not send Gmail from Outlook when all 8 components of AVG Internet Security were checked "on".
Only after unchecking the component "Fake-Webside-Protection" sending Gmail Emails was possible again.
Do you still see othe options to tackle this problem? Have othe AVG users encountered similar problems? Internet did not help me there.
Regards, Roelof
