Hi Melissa,
I understand your concern.
Please be informed that, AVG for Mac currently use kernel extensions to provide real-time protection for your Mac. We are aware that the Apple guidelines for software developers are changing and we are actively working to improve our products so that they are fully compliant with the upcoming changes. Our transition from kernel extensions to Endpoint Security and Network Extension frameworks is expected to be ready in time for the next major macOS release.
A while ago my Mac had a "major" update to its 64-bit OS, Catalina. I managed to see a message in passing and write down, I hope, enough of it for someone else to understand. It said that following the update files in the form of "AVG … … s r o" would fail to work. (Those … were several words I didn't remember.)
Now a week later, the Safari browser cannot open the home page of a game I play, but only attempts to access an internal page following the previous game. I get a page saying my account doesn't allow me to be on the page I'm on - I assume from the game page. Yet I cannot ever access the home page by typing the URL in. There was a note after my fifth attempt that the page was secured against internal personal information being accessed with a certificate issued by: AVG trusted CA. It referenced www.origin.com. I have no idea how to deal with any of this. Do I need to uninstall an AVG product for things to work?
