While browsing this thread I ran across the following answer in a thread:

"Gunaseelan Gurusamy (AVG Technologies)
Hello Jean,
We regret to hear about the inconvenience caused.
Since we updated our AVG programs, it is not possible to install the older version of 2015 or 2016. The virus definitions were not up to date and you won't be able to have the complete protection without new updates in the older versions. The new updates will be available only for AVG 2017 versions. Do not worry, the AVG 2017 version has all bug fixes and enhanced features to protect your computer. Your computer is secured with the AVG 2017 version. Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you."

That answer indicates that it is not possible to install an older version of 2015 or 2016 and you won't have complete protection.
My problem is that my IS 2016 was updated to AVG Protection a few months ago. This week I had a problem with the scan module. I went through the delete routine, AVG removal  and reinstalled AVG Protection. I could only install the free version although I have an IS license good for another 90 days or so.

I uninstalled AVG Protection and installed my licensed version of IS 2016 successfully (in spite of the comments above). The AVG screen shows my computer is protected, but it may not be based on comments above.

Questions:
1. Is my computer protected with IS 2016?
2. Is there someway I can upgrade back to AVG Protection without losing 3 months of license fees?

thank you

Brian, Just for your info / ref.. Bottom RH corner of your screenshot.. Build 16.151.8013.

AVG Internet Security is installed. The About page shows the Software version: 17.8.3036
The Subscription page shows I am logged in to my AVG account and the expiration date is correct for my AVG IS license.
My AVG network home page shows 3 devices all of which I recognize. The IS and the Password Protection rings are fully green with a checkmark and show Fully Protected and Protected respectively.
A computer scan was completed. No problems listed.

Thank you,
