Hello Emily,
I understand that the AVG program installed in your computer got updated to the latest version. Please follow the below steps and check if that fix the connectivity issue:
Please open the AVG Internet Security installed in your computer and click on Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Once this is done, click on "Network Profile(Left side of the interface) and change the profile to "Private" if selected in "Public". Once this is done, please click if you are able to connect to internet.
If you see the latest version as free trial, please open AVG Internet Security and click on Menu->Anout->Subscriptions. From here you can see an option to enter your license number. Please enter the same and check if that program gets activated to pro version. If you see your email address with logout option, please click on "Logout" and after which you will get an option to enter your license number.
I have the same problem with updates yesterday. Only https url had problems such as gmail.com and google.com. I had to remove the AVG in order to check my emails and google. I try to reinstall it, but it gives me an error (0xC0070005: The added waitable object already existed in the collection.)
If these issues cannot be solved right away, then I will have to find the right solution.
Hi,
I have had the paid AVG antivirus (the one that was around 30 dollars a year) years and it just updated. My first indication was when Chrome flagged a new extension I had never heard of - AVG safe price - which I removed. I then got a screen to say that AVG had updated and then asking if I wanted "full protection" for a free trial, with a tiny box to say I had to click that to say no. I exited the window, and then another popped up saying I was "fully protected", but because the whole layout has changed I cannot tell if it thinks I accepted the free trial and I am concerned I will be charged for this as I do not want it.
I then tried to load more webpages on Chrome and it will not let me access any of them saying "Your connection is not private". It will not even connect to Google support so I can check what it thinks the problem is. This is unacceptable as it is a trusted wifi network I have used with no problems, and which I had been using until the update popped up and everything stopped working. Please tell me how to fix this issue as I cannot access the internet on my laptop, and I also do not want to be charged for the "Full protection", as I am aware I do not have the highest tier of protection as the old homepage screen had an option to pay to add a firewall.
Thank you for the information, Emily.
Please perform repair of AVG Antivirus program as mentioned in this article: http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY and check whether the issue persists.
I unchecked the "Enable HTTPS scanning" in the Online Shield and it has made no difference.
