Jim, it sounds like you probably installed a 30-day free trial of AVG Internet Security instead of AVG AntiVirus FREE. If you open AVG's interface, what does it say at top left corner? If that is in fact your situation, I'm sure Alan could give you downgrade instructions.
A popup nag screen trlling me that "I'm aabout to lose my avg protection and asking me to purchase avg pro. How do I get rid of it permenantly?
PS: I have the avg free version and it continues to work and update just fine.
