AVG putting on extra Server

When it is enabled, I get at least two IP addresses when I check IPLink.net.  When I turn the option website shield off, I only have one IP address.  So it appears that I have a leak when website shield is turned on.  I already checked with my VPN service and they say AVG is responsible.

Hello Marc. Thank you for taking the time to write and I apologize for the delayed response. My name is Shawn and I am writing to you on behalf of the AVG Senior Support team. I will help you.

Specific to your concern, I understand you are using a third party VPN, however are seeing more than one server location when cross referencing your visible IP address.

Although you are not subscribed to AVG Secure VPN, there is however a VPN component built into AVG Secure Browser, which I suspect is causing the disruption you described. Mind you, AVG Internet Security is very much intertwined with AVG Secure Browser, hence your successful troubleshoot of disabling the Payment/Fake Website component of AVG Internet Security.

We appreciate your efforts, Marc .

We are glad to know that the issue has been fixed.

We hope to see you in future with AVG.

Do contact us, if you need any help.

Thank you.

Hi Marc.
Could you share a screenshot (https://bit.ly/30ptlLh) of the feature that you are turning off, and the screenshot of the two VPN services?

HI,  I have been using AVG for quite a while, along with a VPN and router.  I have been stopping the Payment/Fake Website option so I would only get one VPN server when I did my checks.  When the option is turned on, I have two VPN Services, one believe to be from AVG.  I can continue to turn off the option but am wondering of the server that AVG is putting on there is safe to leave it there or keep the option turned off.  Thanks!!  Marc

A better option will be to only disable the VPN component in AVG Secure Browser, which can be done as follows:

- Open AVG Secure Browser
- Select menu (three vertical dots - right corner of the screen)
- Select Security & Privacy Center

Here you may toggle off the VPN component. I trust this explanation and information help clarify your concern. Regards, Shawn

Hi  That did not work.  Right now I have two servers listed.  One in Texas and one in Italy.  However, I also use a DNS Leak website and that is showing one server.  So not sure what to believe is accurate.  Any other suggestions?  Thanks  Marc
