Hi Gary,
We're glad to clarify this for you.
AVG has detected the app as PUP/PUA potentially unwanted program/application because the app is marked as Decptor and does not match with our Guidelines.
However, if you believe that it is a legitimate app & prefer to use it, please follow the below steps :
1. Disable the File shield.
2. Mount Clean My Mac dmg file (download the dmg file, if you've deleted it)
3. Set up the exception (both downloaded file & installed paths)
4. Unmount the Clean My Mac dmg file
5. Drag and drop Clean My Mac app from the Application folder to the Trash and empty it.
6. Enable the File shield
7. Restart the machine
8. Download the new Clean My Mac dmg file and mount it.
9. Install the Clean My Mac app - drag and drop to the Application folder.
After loading the AVG free anti-virus product and running a scan, I can no longer use a program called CleanMyMac X, A pop-up said the it was put in quarantine. I'm running Catalina 10.15.7.
I have another Mac running same and no problem with CleanMyMacX and your software. I want very much to use both products.
The pop-up stated: We moved .BC.T_g12SCI to your Quarantine because it was infected with
MacOS:PuAgent-AZ[PUP]

Terry, we appreciate your efforts so far. I would request you to contact our technical support team (https://support.avg.com/support_contact_form) for help to set an exception and resolve this.
We're sorry for not making it clear in the previous post, Gary.
1. Open AVG Antivirus on your MAC - Click on Computer tile - Click on toggle bar beside File shield to disable it.
3. Please follow the steps mentioned below 'Set exceptions' in this article.
6. Repeat step 1 to enable File shield.
If you require any assistance during the process, feel free to write back to us.

I have the same problem, and I ahve tried numerous times to follow the above instruction with no luck! Running High Sierra 10.13.6, AVG 19.6. The instructions that are giving me problems seem to be:
1. Disable the File shield.
2. Mount Clean My Mac dmg file (download the dmg file, if you've deleted it)
3. Set up the exception (both downloaded file & installed paths)
4. Unmount the Clean My Mac dmg file
1. I can disble the file shield in the shield tab of preferences. Seems like I should also disble "Scan for potentially unwanted applications (PUAs)" under thescanning tab?
2. What do you mean by "Mount CleanMyMac dmg file? Do you mean to open the dmg file and install Clean My Mac to the Applications Folder, or just to open the dmg file?
3. I can set the Exceptions for the downloaded dmg file okay. I have to create an alias of the Applications folder to navigate to the Clean My Mac app. However, since it was "broken, and in trying to do all this, I moved it to the trash, and subsequently emptied the trash. However, from step 2, if I try to mount the dmg file and drag the Clean My Mac file to the Applications folder, AVG says it has a virus, and only part of the file gets loaded in the applications folder. Thus I cannot set up the exception for the installed path because nothing is installed.
4. Unmounting the dmg file I assume means just closing the installer?
No matter what I do in the AVG Preferences, I keep getting messages that AVG has blocked andthing to do with Clean My Mac. I am stuck. Help!
