AVG quarantines a file and also removes Skype

Thanks for your reply Alan.
I took the first step of looking in the Virus Vault but none of the files mentioned appear in the Virus Vault, nor does the Event log indicate that anything had been detected or removed, which is a bit weird as I have screen dumps of the full result after rebooting following the supposed deletion of 1 file.
Incidentally, I think it would be a great idea to be able to export the contents of the details properly rather than having to do screen dumps in order to remember the details of what occurred.
It would help to be able to pass these details on if neccessary.

I will try your suggestion of chat or phone support after the 2nd January.

Norrls, You can actually try chat or phone support now. It's the official AVG Community Support that may not be available until the 2nd January.

AVG recently alerted me to a supposed virus contained in file sky1B.tmp. Believing AVG I accepted the offer to quarantine it.
Much to my surprise, and horror it removed that file together with the following files, of which no mention was made.

6 processes were stopped
4 files deleted
2 Registry Keys deleted.

Processes terminated were:
Skype.exe
SKY1B.TMP
syncagentsrv.exe
afcdpsrv.exe     )
schedul2.exe    ) Both apparently part of Acronis TrueImage - my backup program
BCMWLTRY.EXE
WLTRYSVC.EXE

Files Deleted were:
Sky1B.TMP
SKYPE.MSI
SKYPE.EXE
WLTRYSVC.EXE

Registry Keys deleted appear to be those associated with Skype.

Of most concern to me is that I can not reinstall Skype.
It keeps telling me that it cannot write to disk, and appears to be caused by the entire Skype directopry being set to Read Only, and it does not allow me to change it. I can uncheck the Read Only box, Apply it to the folder and all sub folders, but when I then check it again it is still at Read Only.

I have even deleted the entire directory and tried to reinstall using the full Skype.msibut the same thing happens. as soon as the Skype directory is created it is made Read Only and the remainder of the installation fails.
Why did AVG do this to me, and how do I reinstall Skype?

Norris, By the way, as per the article, did you check the AVG Identity Protection side as well?.
