Yes I did. The only thing that was odd was that when using the AVG remover tool in the first place the computer did not automatically close down and an error message came up saying the a programme had stopped it working. However when I re-started manually the AVG icon had changed and was aid to have nothing in it. I assumed that AVG had been removed inspire of the error message.
thanks for your help.

Dear AVG,
You kindly advised me on a sequence in order to re-install AVG Internet Security. This was to overcome my e-mail and firewall being inactive for some reason. All seemed to be going alright until the following error message occured; DRIVER INSTALLATION FAILED. error code 0xC0070643. Do you have any frsdh advice?
Thank you

Thank you for the information, Richard. I would request you to boot your PC to safe mode ( http://avgclick.me/rebootintosafemode ) , run the removal tool in safe mode and then try to re install AVG.
